The museum was established in 197. Initially it was an institution of research/educational character oriented on assembling culture goods and folk art with a particular focus on sculpture of the Sierpc Region and iconography. In 1987 the Ethnographical Museum and its section were joined - forming together: The Museum of the Mazovian Countryside in Sierpc
