Harvest – open air eventIn Poland harvest lasts around two months, more or less from 15th June to 15th August and they are preceded by small harvests- collection of colza and barley. Only after this harvest a proper one begin, known as large harvests. They comprise a collection of rye, barley , wheat and oat.

Open air event in Skansen, whose main aim is to bring closer the old time works connected with the cereal harvest and presenting the techniques of its processing. The event is taking place in a natural scenery of the Mazovian village at the turn of the XIX-XX century.

Demonstrations

Participants of the event will join demonstrations of scything, binding sheaves threshing with flail and “stygowanie”. Harvest-home performance by a folk team and a harvest-home party will be the culmination of harvest works. The occasional exhibition “ From the grain of wheat to the loaf” illustrating particular stages of cereal treatment is opened to all interested individuals. The event is accompanied by Bread fair.

Movie presentations referring to the museum and northwest folk culture of Mazovia also take place.

All extra attractions are available on Sundays and holidays.
